Enjoy a truly unique experience on the Colorado River in Westwater Canyon with America Outdoors outfitters who offer remarkable whitewater rafting and kayaking trips!
Hidden away in western Colorado and eastern Utah is Westwater Canyon, which offers an exceptional whitewater rafting trip as the Colorado River begins the last leg of its journey through Colorado.
On this hidden stretch of the Colorado River you can unwind as you enjoy the beauty and solitude of desert canyon country. As you float down the Colorado through the multi-hued red sandstone canyons, the uplift of the Colorado Plateau gives rise to the oldest exposed rock in Utah - the precambrian metamorphic gneiss and schist of the "Black Rocks" area.
Not long after entering Utah, the Colorado River begins its descent into Westwater Canyon. The river channel begins to narrow and canyon walls climb to over 1,500 feet above river level. The water current becomes notably swifter as it is forced into the descending and narrowing channel of Westwater Canyon. It is here that your trip offers the thrill and challenge of running some of the best white water rapids in the region. Colorful names and exciting stories accompany these rapids, especially "Little Dolores," "Funnel Falls," "Skull," and "Sock-it-to-Me."
