Enjoy the many whitewater rafting, fishing, inflatable kayaking and float trips America Outdoors outfitters provide on the Green River through Desolation Canyon, Labyrinth Canyon, Lodore Canyon, Flaming Gorge, Gray Canyon and Stillwater Canyon.
The GREEN RIVER in DESOLATION CANYON
Located deep within the Tavaputs Plateau, Desolation Canyon is one of the most remote wilderness areas in Utah. Steep canyon walls with towering spires and abundant arches are spread throughout the region, large beaches with giant cottonwood trees provide great campsites and mild stretches of water offer many opportunities to swim and relax on the water.
It is a perfect canyon for inflatable kayaks with many rapids to enjoy. Explore the side canyons while hiking to ruins, historical sites and scenic overlooks. Bears, deer, desert bighorn sheep, great blue herons, and one of the last bands of wild horses live along the river corridor.
Rapids: Class II & III (Medium to Difficult)
The GREEN RIVER in LODORE CANYON
A magnificent towering canyon marks the start of many of the trips at the "Gates of Lodore" and follows one of the most beautiful stretches of river anywhere. Fed by dam-controlled flows from Flaming Gorge Reservoir, the Green River through Lodore Canyon provides rafting fun throughout the summer.
Several challenging rapids — with colorful names such as "Hells Half Mile," "Disaster Falls," and "S.O.B." — lie hidden between the sheer cliffs of Lodore.
In the calm stretches wildlife abounds. As the oar-powered rafts quietly float through Lodore Canyon you may see deer, water fowl, beaver, and desert big horn sheep. Plus see Indian rock art carvings, remarkable geologic formations, and revel in the pristine, untouched, remote river setting.
Rapids: Class II & III (Medium to Difficult)
The GREEN RIVER in LABYRINTH CANYON
In Labyrinth Canyon, expect calm waters as you enjoy the majestic canyons that surround you.
The GREEN RIVER and FLAMING GORGE
Rising 502 feet above bedrock, Flaming Gorge Dam impounds waters of the Green River to form the reservoir, which extends as far as 91 miles to the north. Flaming Gorge is famous for its trophy lake trout. A good number of 30+ pound fish are caught each year. Fishing is also very good for rainbows, brown trout, kokanee salmon and smallmouth bass. Nature enthusiasts can expect calm waters in this area.
The GREEN RIVER in GRAY CANYON
Named for the color of its steep walls, Gray Canyon is one of the steepest canyons is Utah. Combined with Desolation Canyon, the river runs for 60 miles through this whitewater wilderness.
Rapids: Class II & III (Medium and Difficult)
The GREEN RIVER and STILLWATER CANYON
Experience the fifty-two miles of flat water that runs through Stillwater Canyon's steep walls, where the white caprock along Stillwater Canyon displays dark streaks of desert varnish.
