Elkhorn Mountains

The Elkhorn Mountains encompass 300,000 acres in southwestern Montana.  One of the state’s healthiest elk herds inhabits the Elkhorns. The remnants of trails and wagon roads once used by American Indians, trappers and gold miners remain and form the core of a primitive transportation system throughout the range.
