America Outdoors outfitters offer an amazing guided hiking trip through the Bershires and the Tanglewood, while staying at a wonderful, quaint inn.
The Berkshires are the highlands of Massachusetts ,a place where mountains rise up, and there are rushing rivers, waterfalls and wonderful hiking.
One hike follows the Appalachian Trail to a mountain top viewpoint where, on a clear day, you can see four states: New York, Connecticut, Vermont and Massachusetts, as well as the whole expanse of the Berkshires! Another trip follows the wide lazy Housatonic River as it meanders across the valley by the same name. On the trail, in May, hikers have viewed more than 50 species of wildflowers! There are also waterfalls, rocky ledges (reputed to be Indian sacrifice sites) and deep quiet woodlands to explore.
Summer trips also include an evening concert on the lawns of the world-famous Tanglewood (summer home of the Boston Symphony).
