The Weminuche Wilderness contains a total of 488,210 acres and is located in the San Juan National Forest. The San Juan Public Lands encompass some 2.5 million acres managed by the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management, stretching across five Colorado counties in the southwestern corner of the state. This terrain ranges from high-desert mesas to alpine peaks, with thousands of miles of back roads and hundreds of miles of trails to explore. Some of Colorado's many "14's" can be found with the Weminuche Wilderness Area. This wilderness area is a truly remarkable place, and it is awaiting your visit.
Hunting, horseback trips, tours and treks, hiking, backpacking, family trips, kayaking and whitewater trips are available through an America Outdoors outfitter in the Weminuche Wilderness Area.
